Outreach
We live out our mission in our efforts to care for those in need in our neighborhood and beyond.
Packing Parties for Homeless Women
Several times a year we gather after worship in the Gathering Place, below the Sanctuary, to pack kits for the homeless women at the W.H.E.E.L. shelters. Each kit includes two pairs of new underwear or numerous hygiene items. In December our congregation puts together holiday gift bags based on a curated wish list provided by the coordinators of the W.H.E.E.L. shelters. More recently, as part of the Thriving Congregation Initiative, we have started a new packing program called “Breakfast-on-the-Go” to provide non-perishable snacks for the smallest over-night shelter managed by W.H.E.E.L. These packing parties support homeless women in areas that are needed the most but sometimes overlooked; you are welcome to join us.
Tierra Nueva
We support the work of this tremendous organization at work in Skagit County. The coffee we serve at all our gatherings is purchased from their Underground Coffee Project, which employs former inmates in all aspects of the coffee roasting business.
Little Free Libraries for Children
Please feel free to take or donate a book to our Children’s Little Free Library located on the south side of the church. While there are many Free Little Libraries across Seattle, ours is exclusively dedicated to children to support and promote early literacy in our neighborhood.
Other Local Ministries
We host three different AA groups that meet weekly in our building. We are also involved in occasional one-time outreach events, such as our annual adopt-a-family Christmas drive through the Queen Anne Helpline. Stay tuned for more opportunities coming this way!
